The Rules Committee will exercise its original jurisdiction to assess the implications of technology utilization on the legislative process by State Legislatures, while showcasing some of the practical applications of those technologies. Issues that the Committee will examine include: (1) the procedural and cultural impact of technology on the legislative process and historical record of the institution; (2) how the use of information technology can affect the conduct of business on the floor, in committees, and among Members; (3) the advantages and disadvantages of enhanced communications and interactions between Members and the public; and (4) the possible impact on Member attendance, voting in committees, and the publishing of official documents.
